Maguire moves into the weekend at RICOH Women's British Open
After two rounds at Kingsbarns Golf Links, Scotland for the 41st staging of the RICOH Women's British Open, Leona Maguire (Slieve Russell) is in contention with scores of 68 and 71 for a -4 total. Both Maguire & Olivia Mehaffey (RCDL) were amongst four amateurs competing in a field of 144. Mehaffey comfortably finished on level par after round one, but a second round 75 meant she slipped outside the cut line at her second Women's British Open.
Leona won the Smyth Salver for top amateur in 2016 at Woburn by finishing 25th overall, 6 shots ahead of the next best amateur. No doubt she will have her sights set on the silverware again this year but with her experience and calibre, she will be eyeing the main prize from just a handful of shots behind the leaders heading into the weekend.
After a five under round 2, Georgia Hall (England) is the leading GB&I player on -9. Overnight leader Michelle Wie slipped down the leader board today having shot a course record 64 (-7) on Thursday.
