Leone Maguire Cards Top 10 Finish in Windy City Classic

HIGHLAND PARK, Illinois. – Another tournament and yet another top 10 finish for Duke University’s Leona Maguire.

The senior carded a two-over-par, 215, at the Windy City Collegiate Championship on her way to placing tied ninth overall at the 6,200-yard, par 71 Northmoor Country Club in Highland Park, Ill.
A product of Cavan, Ireland, Maguire posted rounds of 71, 71 and 73 and registered her 28th career top 10 placement, which currently ranks fourth on Duke’s all-time charts. She passed Blue Devil greats Jenny Chuasiriporn and Virada Nirapathpongporn, who each had 27 top 10 placements.

 In Tuesday’s round, Maguire couldn’t get much going but battled all day long. She collected 10 straight pars to open her day, but then went through a stretch where she bogeyed three consecutive holes. Maguire closed strong with an up-and-down on the par three 17th, was on the green in two on 18, and tapped in for her lone birdie of the day. She hit 12 greens, 10 fairways and rolled 30 putts. Maguire also tied for second overall with 39 pars over the 54 holes.
