Stirling University's women's golf squad provided the individual winner, Chloe Goadby from St Andrews, and the overall team champions by a 10-stroke margin at the Yale Intercollegiate women's tournament at New Haven, Connecticut.
This success comes hardly on the heels of an excellent performance at the same venue by the Stirling men's team in the Macdonald Cup.
Stirling University men's head coach, former Walker Cup player Dean Robertson, believes the Stirling women's triumph is the first by an overseas university at an American NCAA tournament.
The leading placings in the 15-team event, in which the final day's play was rained off, were:
580 Stirling
590 Lamar
594 Delaware, Harvard.
595 Charlotte
598 Seton Hall
601 Yale
602 Boston College
603 Princeton
607 Albany
612 Penn
Chloe Goadby had rounds of 71 and 69 for two-under-par 140, heading a field of 90 top US women's college golfers by three strokes.

Gemma Batty was another Stirling top-10 finisher. She had two rounds of 73 for 146 and a joint ninth placing.

"Team cohesion and superb preparation, given the Stirling men's success in the McDonald Cup last week, helped the women's team to such a tremendous achievement.
"Special mention goes to Chloe Goadby who was victorious in the individual tournament with a total score of two-under-par and who continues to grow in stature in the women's game. Freshman Hazel MacGarvie came a close joint 2nd and is a massive talent waiting to be nurtured."

Third-placed Harvard finished 21 strokes behind Stirling.
