COSTLY LAST-HOLE BOGEY FOR GABRIELLE DOWN UNDER

Despite a bag of 10 birdies over the 36 holes, Gabrielle Macdonald failed to make it through to the match-play stages of the Australian women's amateur championship at Wanneroo Golf Club, Lake Karrinyup. She had rounds of 77 and 74 for 151, figuring in a four-way tie for 30th place on 151.

A play-off was then needed to decide which two of the four would continue in the championship. Unfortunately, Gabrielle was eliminated.

She will be rueing her 36th hole bogey which, had she parred the hole, would have taken her through to the match-play stages. The two players who progressed from the play-off both lost their first-round ties.
