ILGU Team announced for French International U21 Championship
The French International Lady Juniors Championship (Esmond Trophy) gets under way from March 29th – April 2nd at Saint Cloud, Paris.
The ILGU Squad to compete at the French International U21 Championship will include Valerie Clancy (Killarney), Mairead Martin (Kanturk), Rachel Thompson (Cork), Lauren Walsh (Castlewarden) and Annabel Wilson (Lurgan).
The event, which consists of 2 rounds of stroke play qualifying followed by 5 rounds of match play, is played annually at Saint Cloud Golf Club on the outskirts of Paris.
Not since 2009, when a 15-year-old Leona Maguire claimed victory, has an Irish Player clinched the Esmond Trophy (U21). However, Wilson, who has begun her 2018 season with two top 15 finishes, secured the Cartier Trophy as best U18 player in 2017 and will hope to go one step further this year.
Irish Girls’ Team Captain Helen Jones (Royal Portrush) and Irish Girls’ Team Captain Chris Jelly will travel with the team.
