Craig Lawrie finishes joint fifth but earns joint third prizemoney on Algarve
Craig Lawrie, the only Scot in the field of 78, finished joint fifth today (Monday) in the Algarve Pro Tour's Morgado Classic at the Morgado Golf and Country Club, north of Portimao.
Lawrie had rounds of 71 and 72 over a par-73 course for a three-under total of 143.
He had an eagle 3 in both rounds but also a double bogey 5 at the short eighth in his second circuit. Craig also bogeyed the second and 16th.
Lawrie finished three strokes behind the winner, England's David Dixon who had a pair of 70s for a six-under total of 140, one ahead of Portugal's Tiago Cruz (73-68 for 141).
Jessica Hall (England) and Dong Hoon Jung (South Korea), the two amateurs who shared the first-round lead, finished joint third on 142, both with scores of 68 and 74.
As the amateurs could not win cash prizes it meant that Lawrie and the four other pros who shared fifth place, had their cheques boosted to £640 each.
